In the midst of a heatwave, a young soccer fan was selling lemonade to earn funds for his team’s trip to Portugal.
He had the shock of his life when prominent TikTok celebrities discovered him and offered to help him realize his soccer goals.
Lexy and Austin Burke are well-known users of the popular social media app TikTok. They are well-known for their charitable initiatives, such as giving back to the Nashville community.
They were on their way to lunch one day when a small youngster attracted their eye. In the midst of a heatwave, he was selling lemonade by the side of the road.
The pair understood in their hearts that the boy needed assistance. They were so moved by what they witnessed that they shared his video on TikTok as part of their “Venmo Challenge,” in which Lexy’s fans pay money to her Venmo account.
She spends her money on tipping servers and filming their reactions.
This time, they decided to assist a young child named Niko, who didn’t mind working in the blistering heat of the sun.
The pair informed him that they were heading to the bank and asked him to wait for them until 4 p.m.
In less than a half-hour, the couple raised $500 to assist Niko. The couple already had $500 extra to give Niko, and someone sent another $100 while they were on their way to the lemonade stand. They intended to surprise Niko with their thoughtful present, which totaled $1,100.
Lexy questioned Niko whether he was trying to gather money for anything when the couple returned to buy from the boy’s lemonade business. He stated that he was a member of a competitive soccer squad that had been invited to compete in Portugal.
Unfortunately, Niko’s family did not have much money, so he decided to put up a lemonade stand to make some funds.
He was astounded when the couple gave him a $1100 gratuity for three dollars of lemonade. “This is what we’re going to give you,” Lexy remarked as she handed Niko an envelope. “Save the change.”
Niko, who was merely passing through Nashville, couldn’t believe his good fortune. “You just made it possible for me to travel to Portugal.”
He called his father on FaceTime to tell him the good news. He stated that he had recently returned to Nashville from Washington, D.C. due to his father’s heart attack.
“There was no reason for me to be here,” Niko explained. “However, it’s strange that I was here at this moment.”
On the one hand, the pair was overjoyed and gratified that they had once again made a difference in someone’s life because to their followers.
“I had a bit more than $400 in my Venmo from prior challenges and was waiting for the appropriate moment to surprise someone.” “As soon as we spotted Niko, we realized we had to do whatever we could to help him,” Lexy explained.
“I’m thankful that our paths crossed and that social media allowed us to share his story and support someone who was working so hard and was more than deserved.”
Austin explained that he had always wanted to donate to a lemonade stand because he had done them as a child with her brothers and sisters.
“Seeing how hard this kid was working in 102-degree weather is a type of work ethic you can’t teach. Niko is an extraordinarily special kid with big dreams and that’s something Lexy and I understand all too well.”
This was not the only time the Burkes shared their remarkable generosity as they have been doing the Venmo Challenge since 2020, which made them raise over $300,000 for over 170 recipients.
