A industrious young man was cleaning cars. The way he was handled moved him to tears.

So far this season of America’s Got Talent has seen two singers and a saxophonist receive the Judge’s coveted Golden Buzzer. Now, in Week 4 of Auditions, it was time for another talent to shine.

Mayyas Dance Crew (the night’s final act) grabbed the show on AGT’s June 21 broadcast with a fascinating dance. The performance was created by the group’s founder, Nadim Cherfan, with the goal of “hypnotizing” the audience. Cherfan mentioned during the show that the crew was inspired by Season 16’s Jane “Nightbirde” Marczewski.

Marczewski received Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer last year after her own spectacular Audition. Unfortunately, the vocalist was unable to advance in the competition owing to her health. On February 19, 2022, she died of cancer.

“I grew up watching America’s Pushed Talent and was inspired by so many people, but Nightbirde is what truly got us to audition this year,” Cherfan explained. “When she remarked, ‘We can’t wait till life is no longer difficult for you before you decide to be joyful.'”

Mayyas’ members, who are from Lebanon, opened up about what their Act meant to them and their culture throughout their performance.

“Unfortunately, being a female Arab dancer is not yet fully supported,” they remarked. “Our presence here on the world’s biggest platform is our only chance to show the world what Arab women can do, the art we can make, and the conflicts we can fight.”

“We want to show the world that we can stand on our own as incredibly strong and powerful women,” they continued.

The Mayyas (which means “the proud walk of a lioness” in Arabic) then wowed the audience and the judges, with Simon Cowell lavishing praise on the group.

“This truly, truly will make a difference, in so many great ways,” he remarked. “That’s one component of it. And then there was possibly the best dance act I’ve ever seen. We are delighted to have you here.”

The Mayyas’ performance was enough for Sofia Vergara to award them the Golden Buzzer.

“There are no words to describe how we felt over here.” “I’ve never seen such lovely imaginative dance,” she added. “I would be thrilled to further empower you on this journey because you deserve it, and I want to be a part of it.”
