“Nothing But Blood,” penned by Robert Lowry in 1876, is one of the most popular praise hymns of all time. This old gospel hymn was given a modern twist when bluegrass band The McKinny Sisters played it live. When the three sisters took the stage at Garden Community Church, they told the congregation that they enjoyed playing ancient songs. They do this in order to be motivated to write their own original songs.

The song starts out slowly, with one sister leading and the other two harmonizing. The three quickly crank up the tempo, and the music becomes funky. With the banjo’s brisk beat, you can’t help but stomp your feet. The McKinney sisters prove that the hard effort of memorizing an old song pays off with beautiful harmonies. There is no doubt that these ladies are gifted. All three of them can not only sing but also play an instrument.
