Girl with Stellar Prosthetic Foot aspires to be an Olympic gymnast… VIDEO

Kate Foster lost her leg when she was 12 due to a leukemia-related infection, but that didn’t stop her from becoming a competitive gymnast. “I’ve never liked anything more,” Foster, now 16, said. “She adored him from the start.”

“She’s doing extra workouts and going to the gym,” her mother, Barb Foster, told ABC News. The leukemia diagnosis was devastating for the aspiring athlete. Kate recalls being told that if her left leg infection was not treated, it would kill her.

“‘You don’t… you don’t cut off my leg,’ I said. “I need it… for gymnastics,” she told her doctors. “And they kind of explained to me, you know, ‘you know, if we don’t do it, this bone marrow transplant won’t work.'” “It’s your leg or your life.”
