A video of a mother preventing her toddler from falling off the side of a balcony is going viral, providing yet another example of a parent valiantly—and almost magically—saving their child.
According to Colombian daily El Espectador, the video was obtained from surveillance footage shot at the Laureles Colonial office building in Medellin. A mother and her son are seen exiting an elevator together, followed by a delivery man. Mom takes out her phone, releasing her son’s hand in the process.
He rushes up to a railing near the elevator and crouches down, straining to see what’s below. He stumblingly advances, crouches, and dashes through the railing posts.
The mother notices what is happening and rushes over to him. She reaches between the posts and grabs his ankle just as he flips upside down in midair. The delivery man rushes down the stairs, probably thinking the child has fallen, but the mother is able to pull the boy up as four office ladies come out to help, seeing what’s going on through the glass wall.
