Any parent of twins will tell you that having two newborn babies at the same time is a lot of work. However, while there is double the work, there is also double the fun and sweet moments.
This pair of newborns made their grand entrance into the world with a chorus of screams and wails, as most babies do. What surprised their parents and the other people in the delivery room was how quickly they both calmed down when they were placed next to each other.
Everyone in the room was taken aback when the twin brothers’ skin began to touch and instantly calmed. Being close to each other provided an instant calming effect, just like it did in the womb. The boys’ parents could only hope that it would always be this simple for them to calm down.
The National Health Services’ child experts assure parents that placing twin newborns in the same bed is safe. This practice, also known as co-bedding, works to regulate sleep patterns and internal body temperatures.
It is also an effective soothing measure for babies who have been co-bedding with their sibling for up to nine months prior to birth.
The rules of newborn sleeping remain the same whether there are one or more babies in the bed. Infants should sleep on their backs, with no extra bedding. When two babies sleep together, their heads should be facing each other.
The best part about co-bedding sleep practices is that parents have plenty of opportunities to marvel at their sleeping beauties.
