‘America’s Got Talent has seen its fair share of amazing and one-of-a-kind talent over the years. This time, Simon Cowell and the judges welcome Japanese Yo-Yo artist Shu Takada, who performs a routine to the music of ‘Throttle’s ‘Hit the Road Jack.’
‘We’ve seen a lot of yo-yo acts over the years,’ Simon says to the contestant. If I’m being honest, they’ve been a little boring!’ Shu responds by telling Simon about his dream of spreading the ‘coolness’ of yo-yos all over the world.
Shu makes it walk first, then flips his body in mid-air. While dancing, he effortlessly works two yo-yos. He rolls onto his back and tosses them into the air. The audience is stunned and erupts in applause.
He gets down on his knees, bends his back to touch the ground, and throws two yo-yos into the air. He sits on the ground and spins a yo-yo underneath his backside, lifting it up as if jumping rope.
The audience erupts! ‘My God, Shu, we weren’t expecting that!’ says Simon. Heidi follows him, exclaiming, “This is the best yo-yo we’ve ever seen!” ‘I’ve never seen anything like that!’ exclaims Howie, who can’t believe his eyes.
Simon decides to make things interesting. He tells Shu, ‘We’ve never done this before. We’re going to say Yo or No.’ Shu ends up getting four ‘Yo’s’ and also a standing ovation from the audience.
It is a fantastic performance featuring dancing, acrobatics, and remarkable yo-yo techniques. The judges loved it, and Shu advanced on ‘AGT.’ When asked how he felt by host Terry Crews, Shu couldn’t even respond due to his overwhelming emotions.
