With an impromptu performance, the student choir sends off the flight captain in style.

On his last flight, a student choir surprised the captain with a sweet impromptu serenade.

Ronald Smith has been a United Airlines pilot for 32 years and is currently flying his final flight from Chicago to Brussels before retiring.

When the LGE (Lycée des Garçons d’Esch-Sur-Alzette) student choir learned of his retirement, they honored him in the best way they knew how.

After the other passengers exited the plane, the choir remained behind and waited for Ronald to emerge from the pit, at which point they formed a semi-circle and sang Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida.”

The teens transformed the song into a cappella serenade, and the captain must have enjoyed the moment as the crew gathered around him.

This must have been a truly heartwarming moment for Captain Ronald and we wish him all the best in his next endeavor.
